Brockman Orchestra is a co-curricular strings program that meets twice a week throughout the school year. Richland County School District One provides a strings teacher (Amy Evers since 2006) for two half days of instruction.  Classes meet during the school day and are available to interested students in 2nd-5th grades.

Second graders learn in Suzuki-like violin classes, meaning students learn by listening.
Third graders choose violin, viola, cello or bass and use a method book.
Fourth & Fifth graders continue using method books and beginner orchestra music.

Brockman owns a full line of various sizes of violins, violas and cellos to accommodate individual students’ arm length. These instruments are offered on a rental basis, $20/year, to cover basic maintenance costs. FAB purchased the initial instruments with the help of grant funding and Richland One and FAB provide additional instruments as needed.
Several Brockman students are participating in the USC Strings Project for additional orchestral opportunities.  Strings Project is a wonderful extension to our orchestra program. Contact Mrs. Evers if you would like further information.

Artist in Residence Program Brockman contracts with various artists to work with our entire student population throughout the school year. These residency programs are funded by our Arts in Basic Curriculum Grant from the SC Arts Commission.
